A ministry of Central Fellowship Baptist Church, Central Fellowship Christian Academy (CFCA) in Macon is a college preparatory school serving children in grades K3 through 12. This independent Christian school seeks to provide a quality, Christian-based education while preparing its students to become discerning leaders and responsible citizens ready to impact the world for Christ.
A product of a merger between Grace Baptist Church, Cochran Field Christian Academy, and Cochran Field Baptist Church, CFCA is located between Macon and Warner Robins on Georgia Highway 247.
The school campus, constructed alongside the new church sanctuary of Central Fellowship Baptist Church, is made up of 22 acres of land, four elementary buildings, a library, an office building, two gymnasiums, and a high school building.
CFCA boasts a vibrant community of committed parents, faculty, and students, who work together to encourage spiritual, financial, ethical, and academic leaders in society.
Jeremiah W. Sattazahn, Head of School, says, “The staff’s main goal is to see each student grow to Christian maturity and develop a distinctively Biblical worldview. We desire that each student graduate from CFCA with a sincere desire to seek God’s will for their life.”
Striving to provide a solid reading and language foundation, students are immersed in an intensive phonics program that adds studies in grammatical structure and classical literature as they mature. Math is taught with a concentration toward vocabulary and concept mastery. Small class sizes enhance all learning at CFCA.
Having a challenging academic curriculum, which is based on current research and best practices, and focusing on each of the core subjects is not the only mission at CFCA. Students are encouraged to participate in clubs, fine arts, and athletics. Clubs include the National Honor Society, Junior National Honor Society, BETA Club, Junior BETA Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Fine arts instruction in band, chorus, art, and drama classes are offered, as are private music lessons. The school also hosts an award-winning Civil Air Patrol program, the official auxiliary of the U. S. Air Force.
In addition to academic classes, students attend weekly chapel services and have Bible class every day. Community guest speakers are featured, and students have opportunities to share their musical abilities during these praise and worship times. Missions, community service, and ministry opportunities abound at CFCA, and the students and staff, who represent over 75 churches in the Middle Georgia area, are encouraged to volunteer.
Athletics at CFCA is comprehensive, offering football, softball, cross country, soccer, cheerleading, basketball, track, baseball, and tennis. All student athletes can take advantage of weight training, too.
Dual-credit enrollment classes are offered through Middle Georgia State College and Middle Georgia Technical College. In addition to these programs, additional dual-credit courses are taught on campus at CFCA.
Currently, CFCA has 30 students in kindergarten, 64 in elementary school, and 173 in the middle and high schools. It is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC) and is a member of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association (GICAA).
CFCA is currently celebrating 45 years of ministry in the Middle Georgia area and has a major field renovation project underway. The campus is undergoing one of its most significant transformations since its establishment in 1970. The newly renovated CFCA Athletic Complex will include a new entry point, a new game field with stadium lighting, a new track, and a new practice field. The project will be completed by the summer of 2015, ready for day and evening events for all sports!
Mr. Sattazahn concludes, “The philosophy of education at CFCA can be summed up with two words: Kingdom Education.” Dr. Glen Schultz, Christian educator and author, defines Kingdom Education as a lifelong, Bible-based process of leading children to Christ, building them up in Christ, and equipping them to serve Him. As Sattazahn explains, “These are the things that determine true success in life.”
As the community of CFCA would agree, the mission of the school at the end of the day is to assist parents in their assignment of educating their children—and raising and instructing the next generation for Christ. #
