The concept that eventually became today’s Central Fellowship Christian Academy (CFCA) was initiated in 1969, when prayer in public schools became a national issue. Plans were laid and the school opened its doors in the fall of 1970, with 169 students in kindergarten through ninth grade. One upper class a year was added and the first seniors graduated in 1974.

CFCA is a ministry of Central Fellowship Baptist Church. It is a private, Christian, college preparatory school. Currently, there are over 800 students enrolled and 681 seniors have graduated since its opening. The mission of the school is to prepare young people for life through an emphasis of scripture-integrated academics and extra-curricular activities with practical Biblical application. Central Fellowship has been fully accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission since 1986. The school has been a member of the Georgia Independent School Association since 1995 and is a proud member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

The administration, faculty, and staff of Central Fellowship work hand-in-hand with the students and parents to ensure a successful educational experience for all. Reverend Rodney Queen is President of the school. Other leaders include Administrator/High School Principal, Todd Bishop; Dean of Students/Elementary School Principal, Truitt Franklin; Athletic Director, Todd Whetsel; and Comptroller, Reverend Charles Whetsel. Over fifty faculty members work directly with the instruction of the students. The staff, which includes a nurse, consists of more than twenty dedicated individuals.

The main focus of the elementary curriculum at CFCA is mathematics, reading and language arts, history, and science instruction. Music is offered in grades first through sixth. Physical education is offered to all elementary students on a weekly basis. A multi-media library is available for the use of all students. For secondary classes, junior and senior high, class schedules meet all state requirements for entrance into four-year college systems. Courses include advanced math classes (trigonometry and algebra III), advanced science classes (physics and advanced biology), as well as foreign languages, elective computer classes (taught in a state-of-the-art networked computer lab), psychology, health, and more. Students also have the opportunity to be involved in music, drama, and the National Honor Society.

Extracurricular activities are abundant at Central Fellowship. Students participate in numerous sports including football, cross-country, softball, and basketball. Interested students can also enjoy a wide range of fun activities and clubs throughout the school year. Band, junior and senior high chorus, and the drama department work together to provide entertainment to the Lancers. The prayer club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meet to strengthen the school’s mission to promote spiritual citizens.

The Lancer Service Organization (LSO) is a parent organization involved in continuous support of Central Fellowship. The group is involved in various aspects of the school. They work around the school to make improvements to the grounds, such as planting flowers. The LSO has created an invaluable student/parent business directory. They have recently initiated an annual Serv-A-Thon. This activity involves students in the lives of community members. They help elderly, disabled, widowed, and disadvantaged people with jobs around their homes. After taking pledges to support the school from family and friends, those involved in the Serv-A-Thon do the work for free as a volunteer service to the Middle Georgia community.

Alumni support at CFCA is encouraged. The school offers several annual events to bring former graduates back to the school. In September, the Homecoming game was held at the Bibb County Sports Complex. During the week of the event, alumni were invited to visit the school and meet current students and faculty members before the game. An alumni soccer game took place prior to the football game. Alumni basketball games will be played on Saturday, November 30th, at the gym. Ladies will play at 6:00 p.m. and men will play at 7:30 p.m. Current and former students are encouraged to join in the festivities that evening.
