2008 FACE FORWARD!  Jun. 14, 1 p.m.–4 p.m.Explore all the parts in the Head to Toe exhibition and then examine the same details in Seeing Faces. Try your hand at putting the pieces together to create a portrait of someone who came with you to the M. Bring your own camera and create a fun photo portrait. Horsepower: An Equine Art exhibit  Through Jun. 26, museum hours. exhibition of works featuring artists Mase Lucas and Kathy Willingham. Brown v. Board of Education Exhibit  Through Jul. 27, museum hours.  Handed down on May 17, 1954, the Supreme Court’s decision in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, that “separate educational facilities are inherently unequal” was pivotal to the struggle for racial desegregation in the United States. The exhibit explores the case by featuring more than 100 books, photographs, political cartoons, manuscripts, maps, music, and films all from the comprehensive civil rights collection from the Library of Congress. HEAD TO TOE  Through Sept. 1, museum hours.Based on Pacific Science Center’s nationally acclaimed Science on Wheels: Blood and Guts exhibition, which educated visitors about five bodily topics: skeletons, organs, the senses, general health, and general body facts. Compare skulls and backbones to learn how each one works for different animals. Learn about your individual fingerprints and smell detector cells in your nose. Andrew J. Lyndon III Collection  Through Sept. 21, museum hours.Maconite Andrew Jackson Lyndon III (1918-1989) bequeathed his small but significant art collection to the Museum of Arts and Sciences in memory of his parents. The collection is an amazingly diverse portfolio with works by important 20th century American and European artists. Chinese and Korean antiquities contribute additional flare to the collection. Wesleyan Market  Jun. 7, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.FREE & open to the public. Held the first Saturday morning of every month, this fun community event features a variety of locally grown and produced items ranging from flowers and organic fruits and vegetables to baked goods. The 22nd Annual Georgia Peach Festival  Jun. 13–21, times vary.The festival goes international this year as the Peach Festival begins its partnership with the Chinese Peach Festival. Peach Festival president Rich Bennett said, “We will be hosting a group from Chengdu China who will share their culture through performance. Also, we will have several Latin American countries represented by performance groups.” The 2008 festival begins Friday, June 13, in Byron with a luncheon, swings into high gear , June 14, and continues with the Alabama Blues Brothers in concert Saturday evening. Terrance Lonon and the Untouchables will be in concert Friday, June 20, in Fort Valley and Saturday, June 21, is the big day, featuring a 5K road race, the Peach Festival Parade, the World’s Largest Peach Cobbler, and The Tams in concert.
